Job Description

Major Duties

· Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, the Assistant Vice President for Campus Development Programs works in coordination with the Vice President for University Relations and Advancement in support of the strategic vision, mission, and goals of CSUN by leading the development and execution of a strategic plan to secure gift commitments of $1 Million and above

· The incumbent envisions and implements a programmatic approach to principal giving, strategically engaging, soliciting and stewarding CSUN’s most highly rated prospects and directs and, in collaboration with Deans, the Athletic Director, Soraya Executive Director and other key campus leaders, manages all major gift officers and the development programs of all Colleges, Programs and Departments

· Responds to all principal giving inquires, stewards donors and arranges special engagement opportunities for current and prospective donors, and educates CSUN staff and volunteers about CSUN’ s principal giving program

· The incumbent is responsible to research, develop, implement, and refine strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward new and existing donors for increased growth and retention of CSUN’ s top principal and major investors

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in a job-related field.

Master’s degree preferred

· Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional experience in principal and major gifts fundraising, preferably in a University setting; with 2 of the five years in a managerial role preferred

· Experience with capital campaign and endowment campaign also preferred.

· Externally focused, relationship-oriented development professional with a history of success and accomplishment in major gift solicitation.

Innovative and self-directed

· Extensive knowledge of community and well-connected to its resources

· Demonstrated leadership and initiative

· Ability to create and execute strategies and ensure there is consistent follow-through on details.

Produces consistently high quality work

· Strong proficiency with computer technology and Microsoft software applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Understands, used and maintains accurate records within a CRM donor database

· Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment

· Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership

· Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach

· Demonstrated commitment to employee development, recognition, and accountability to further operational goals.

Additional Information

· Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience.

· Hours: Full Time; 40 hours per week; 8:00am
– 5:00pm, Monday through Friday; may include some evening and weekends.
