Assistant Manager

The idea of Bar Flores was born in 2012 under the name Sip, a pop-up speakeasy hosted throughout Los Angeles. For several years, founder Karla Flores-Mercado took Sip into every corner of the city, eventually finding a home in Echo Park. The speakeasy concept was reimagined and dubbed Bar Flores. Karla has always believed in empowering women. Through this philosophy, Bar Flores has been shaped into one of the few female-powered bars in Los Angeles. Our reputation as the hidden gem of Echo Park is something we hold dear, along with having some of the freshest, tastiest cocktails, a beautiful patio, and the best neighborhood hospitality you can find.

We define Neighborhood Hospitality as a warm service experience born of familiarity with guests – a neighborly environment void of more mechanical or superficial service styles they might be used to. Neighborhood Hospitality is making guests feel like they’ve been here before – that this space, the moment of experience, is for them. The experience must be authentic but polite, unintrusive but engaging, casual but informed, and it should strive to exceed the expectations of the guest whenever possible.

Neighborhood Hospitality ultimately aims to create regularity and lasting relationships between our guests, our staff, and our spaces. We want to convey the sense that each establishment is a third home for you outside of your work and your residence. That you, that anyone, can be comfortable here. That guests can be themselves. That guests know they’re taken care of. So smile and say hello, memorize a name and someone’s favorite drink, start simply by asking someone new how their day is going. Show them we’re all here to serve them from the moment they arrive.
