Role and ResponsibilitiesTheFood Service (Café) Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the preparation of adequate and nutritional meals for the members and staff.
Supervises food service workers to ensure menu and special diets are followed.
Responsible for ensuring food is safe for consumption; work areas are cleaned and sanitized throughout each shift.
Performs weekly sanitation audit.
Reports pertinent information to the Assistant General Manager for follow up.Specific ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsSupervises food service assistants to ensure menu is followed and that special diets are being correctly given to the members.Enforces proper sanitation procedures such as daily cleaning and proper storage.
Fills out temperature sheets daily and ensures that empty boxes and trash are removed throughout shift.
Ensures that the clean-as-you-go practice is followed and is evident when kitchen is inspected.Assists in the progressive disciplinary actions and performance appraisal processes.Conduct new employee and quarterly staff safety trainingsAdminister emergency care to members and guests in need of assistanceWork as a TEAM with all other departmentsOther duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisorOther FunctionsSupervises daily checklist completion and follows up on incomplete items.Meets the local Health Department standards on personal hygiene (grooming) and adheres to the infection control policy on sickness.Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, warning, and supervising of competent department personnelMeet with department personnel on a regularly scheduled basis to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and/or the improvement of servicesDevelops and implements a monthly business action plan with the General Manager to meet revenue/club quotas.Be knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active WellnessPromote club services and activitiesAssist with keeping the club well stocked and cleanAttend Active Wellness site meetings and trainingsHandle injury and illness and security incident reportingRequirements:Qualifications and Education RequirementsExperience in food service industry is highly preferredMust have current Food Handlers cardTwo (2) years food production experience in commercial, military, or institutional settingTwo years supervisory experience requiredAble to read and follow recipe directionsCooking experience is highly preferredExcellent customer service skillsCash handling experience is highly preferredMust be detail oriented, organized and highly responsive with a commitment to customer serviceStrong verbal communication skillsBasic computer skills, customer service skills, results oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industryAED/CPR/First Aid CertifiedNational Personal Training Certification(s) required (see approved Certification, Licenses and Permits list) as well as modality specific certifications as required by role (if applicable)Proof of citizenship or legal statusPhysical and Working ConditionsAbility to take the responsibility for the health and safety of othersAbility to stand for several hours in a same shift; ability to lift 25 lbsFitness club environmentMust follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards
