1199SEIU Family of Funds: Employee And Labor Relations Manager

Responsibilities Assist the senior leadership team to develop and implement labor relations strategies that are consistent with organizations initiatives, the Collective Bargaining Agreement, comply with legal requirements, and promote positive employee relationsManage collective bargaining issues including investigations, document requests, and grievance hearings and drafting responses post-hearingManage and administer tasks including the interpretation and development of Labor Relation (LR) policies and proceduresInvestigate and leads the resolution of advanced issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, terminations, discrimination, and situations involving interpersonal conflict in the workplaceServes as a liaison between the Human Resources Department and legal to identify and resolve EEO complaints and employee relations issuesEnsure the uniform and equitable application of human resources policiesResearch new HR related legislation and employee relations trends and analyzes the impact on current Fund policies/programs and recommends/initiates changesInterface with union representatives and management team to coordinate union site visits, employee releases for union business and joint training sessionsPrepare and present the Funds positions in the grievance and arbitration procedureParticipate in collective bargaining negotiationsProvide mentoring and coaching to human resources and labor relations staffPerform additional duties and projects as assigned by management Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Labor /Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or equivalent; Minimum of five (5) years Labor Relations experience, preferably in a union setting and minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience requiredThorough knowledge of state, federal employment and labor laws, and governmental compliance requirements.Strong knowledge of HR disciplines around change management, training facilitation, presentation skills, consultative skills, and conflict management.Must be able to investigate and research information, analyze data in relation to the relevant employment laws, trends, policies and procedures, CBA, and use sound judgment to draw valid conclusions, recommendations and plans of action.Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.Must be able to maintain composure and objectively coach employees at all levels on complex, highly sensitive and/or emotional issues.Ability to organize and prioritize work in a highly confidential environment is essential.Proficiency in Microsoft applications (i.E., Word and Excel).Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality
