AbilityPath are hiring Program Instructors to join our team in the San Mateo and Santa Clara CountiesThe Program Instructor provides engaging, community-based instruction in support of high-quality participant services.ABOUT THE ROLE:Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction to participants to help them achieve their goalsUtilize appropriate modification techniques to respond to challenging behaviors and support behavioral plans to increase engagementComplete documentation for tracking participant goals and comment on progress and achievementSupervise and assist participants during volunteer activities, paid work, classes, and other community activitiesResponsible for travel training participants using public transportation and the safety and well-being of participants while out on community outingsMaintain professional relationships and provide excellent customer service with external parties, families, care givers, and participantsAssist participants in personal hygiene as neededDrive organization vehicles as needed (transporting participants for outings, activities, etc.)Comply with participant’s rights, AbilityPath and program policies, CARF standards, NPS compliance, CCL regulations, CAL-OSHA, quality assurance standards, etc.Must act as a Mandated Reporter, and responsible to report any known or suspected adult/child abuseMust comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and lawsAbility to provide engaging instruction to participants with various developmental levels, skill sets, and behaviorsAbility to respond to challenging behaviors and support behavioral plans to increase engagementAwareness of, sensitivity to, and competence in supporting people with developmental disabilitiesOther duties as assignedEDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and ability is qualifying, unless otherwise specified.Associate’s or Bachelor’s in relevant fieldExperience working with adults with developmental disabilitiesThis is an hourly paid position, with a range from $19/hr to $20/hr with opportunities to growHIRING REQUIREMENTS:Valid California Driver’s License/IDProof of negative TB test resultsVerification of physical clearancePassing a criminal fingerprint clearance18 years of age or job permit clearanceProof of Covid-19 VaccinationPHYSICAL ACTIVITY:Accommodations made upon request to Human ResourcesAbility to physically respond to adults with developmental disabilitiesAbility to lift/support at least 40 lbs as neededAbility to sit, stand, stoop, and bend frequentlyAbility to walk for extended periods of time and support adults with developmental disabilities on community outingsAbility to drive company vehicles to transport participantsAbility to sit and keyboard as needed Equal Employment OpportunityAbilityPath is an equal opportunity employer and makes employment decisions on the basis of merit.
