Position Summary:
Early Education (2 years – 5 years)
The Floating Teacher is responsible for supporting the school program by ensuring proper supervision during all schedule breaks; providing instructional support to lead teachers; and activating as substitute teacher if needed.
Candidates for this position must have a minimum of 12 early education units; a degree and/or a teaching credential is a plus. Floating teachers typically have 0-2 years teaching experience. This individual should have a love of young children and be interested in working with the Classroom Lead Teachers in more than one classroom. He/she must be a learner, willing to engage in professional development to enhance teaching skills.
Floating Teachers are in regular contact with school administrators, parents, students, faculty, and guests and must be able to communicate professionally using tact and judgment. Furthermore, he or she will correspond with all of the above using email; strong writing skills are required. A sense of humor and a calm temperament are highly desirable; being comfortable with commotion and rapidly changing goals is necessary.
Pilgrim School relies on technology thus this individual must be comfortable with Mac based technology, Microsoft word, Outlook, and Excel. In addition, use of digital photography is beneficial.
This position requires someone who is punctual, flexible, and possesses strong interpersonal skills. He or she must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
Reports to the Director of Elementary & Early Education and the Assistant Director of Early Education. This individual is an active member of the Early Education Faculty.

- Supervising lunch, rest, and before and after school activities as requested and scheduled.
- Supporting and providing safe and educational activities in the outdoor environment
- Working collaboratively with other teachers
- Maintaining a flexible attitude and a willingness to initiate care and help as needed.
- Stepping in as a teacher when the lead teacher is absent or not in the classroom.
- Communicating with parents and the lead teacher as needed.
- Following all Community Care Licensing regulations for standard of care for young children.
- Willingness to learn and grow in the profession.
- Participation in Professional Development and/or team meetings as scheduled
- Participation in Parent Teacher conferences if asked
- Actively participates in campus life through attendance at Pilgrim events and admissions related activities.
Part Time (9:00-2:00) or Full Time (8:00-5:00)
Salary range: $14-$20 per hour depending on education and experience

Year Round Position – We operate a summer program for our families.
