Overview
This position will function as a supporting role to the Sales Director with a key focus on mining and growing existing customer accounts with short-term selling, outbound calls. The role will also have a strong focus on maximizing revenue, fulfilling flight allocations and working with our customers to meet their needs while providing a professional and positive experience. The ideal candidate must be an enthusiastic, self-starter, solution oriented with industry knowledge and ability to critically evaluate and work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary contact for their assigned account segment
- Responsible for total account management – creating and maintaining account profiles
- Understanding customer needs such as transit time, special handling rate, spot quotes, promotions etc.
- Works and collaborates with internal teams to determine or develop optimum product and logistics solutions for customers
- Responds to ad-hoc requests, enters exception pricing into the cargo system and handles complex bookings
- Interacts with RFS, reassigns cargo to alternate modes as needed
- Negotiate rates/space agreements, coordinates with multiple stakeholders in order to ensure a positive experience and fulfillment for customer
- Handles complaints in line with the company policy, escalates for management review for any out of scope situations
- Provides professional and competent responses to all inbound calls, maintains ability to perform efficiently and follow through on all details
- Develops plans to meet and exceed account revenue plans; seeks to increase cargo sales volume of assigned accounts
- Actively carries out promotional and loyalty programs as directed
- Acts as a change agent, applies industry knowledge and critical evaluation of the problems in order to negotiate, adapt processes and create effective solutions wherever necessary
- Manages overall allotment performance that includes entering and maintaining allotments in the cargo system
- Creates documentation, ensures accurate and compliant record keeping in designated systems (i.e. Salesforce, AC/DC, Sky Pallet, Cargo Spot, Special Load requests)
- Promotes emerging technology such as eUsage, e-AWB
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or related experience is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- 2+ years customer facing direct sales experience
- Availability to work on a flexible schedule (weekends, holidays) in shifts
- Demonstrated ability of customer service skills, interacting with customers and being client focused
- Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task with high attention to detail
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills to adapt to different situations and meet customer needs
- Must demonstrate integrity and accountability, being punctual and reliable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, must be comfortable in engaging different modes of communication
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Knowledge of cargo sales/freight forwarding industry, logistics or operations education would be an advantage
- Experience in cargo customer service will be preferred
