Make Your Mark:

The Vice President of Platform, Engineering will report directly to and partner with the CTO as well as partner with other Product line leaders to align the platform strategy and roadmap to the product suite. It is a unique opportunity to drive execution of the technical vision to modernize the technology stack to improve scalability, reliability, operational cost, and engineering productivity. You will be responsible for development of the platform strategy and delivery of platform solutions that enable our data and AI platform, build out common services, while deprecate legacy, and engaging user interfaces for our customers.

You’ll Get To:

As the VP of Platform Engineering:

  • Own strategy and planning for the technology platform and product modernization roadmap to drive simplification, innovation, reuse, and scalability.
  • Ensure that the technology strategy aligns with the business strategy and use that to set the appropriate short, mid, and long-term priorities for the platform organization.
  • Partner closely with the global product teams and identify where platform technology can provide innovative ways of scaling, enhancing client experience, or providing better business outcomes.
  • Lead a talented and diverse team of engineers across multiple locations and disciplines, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. Be a talent magnet who can recruit, develop, and mentor a world-class technology organization.
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, and field teams to understand the market requirements, customer feedback, and competitive landscape.
  • Set a high bar on engineering excellence and drive best practices for architecture, software development, including Agile and other lean model development and testing strategies to accelerate time-to-market and drive.
  • Ensure that the entire organization is consistently delivering highly scalable technology solutions and continuously improving them.
  • As one of the core leaders in the technology team, play a critical role as the culture carrier-customer centric, business impactful, and proactive across the P&T organization

What You’ll Bring:

Desired outcomes

The successful VP of Platform will have completed the following in the first 12 months:

  • Defined a platform strategy, that will improve scale, margin, time to adoption and engineering productivity at high ROI, and related implementation roadmap, including, but not limited to:
  • Product modernization strategy as needed to effectively support the product and business strategy.
  • Data strategy, that drives step level value and stickiness in the products.
  • Development of reusable common services
  • Drive the deployment of our next generation UI platform on at least one product to cost effectively improve user experience. Partner with the product team to make this happen.
  • Create and fully deploy at least 3 common services including deprecation of the related legacy code and development progress on the next set of services.
  • Creation of the data platform that will enable managing mega enterprise data volumes as well as provide a foundation for AI/ ML modeling.

We’re Even More Excited If You Have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality platform solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Expertise in data engineering, cloud computing, microservices architecture, API design, and UI development
  • Proficiency in various programming languages, frameworks, tools, and platforms.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think strategically, creatively, and analytically.
  • Passion for learning new technologies and solving complex problems.

Pay Transparency Statement:

Placement within this range depends upon several factors, including the applicant’s prior relevant job experience, skill set, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, BlackLine also offers short-term and long-term incentive programs, based on eligibility, along with a robust offering of benefit and wellness plans.
