The Office of School Health’ s (OSH) Vision Program, in partnership, with the Department of Education provides Ophthalmologic support to NYC students in Pre-K thru Highschool; the primary public health purpose of the OSH Vision program is to identify students at risk for amblyopia and students with myopia, astigmatism and hyperopia .
Students identified as requiring vision services are tested and provided with eyeglasses directly or thru partnership; if required further referral for care is provided as well.
For a significant number of students this free service is their only hope in receiving much needed Ophthalmologic care.
The Vision Community Outreach Liaison will partner with internal and external stakeholders to provide vision screenings and assistance to Optometrists providing services in support of the K-1 Expansion, Community Schools and Optometry Programs in NYC Schools.
