UX Design Lead

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

As a member of the Exactuals UX team, the Lead UX Designer is a hybrid of a design leader and delivery lead.

In this role the UX Design Lead is responsible for the implementation of the creative vision (adhering to Exactuals/CNB styles or creating new styles) of a product/project and working with the UX team, product team, business stakeholders, development teams, and other internal Exactuals colleagues to strategically deliver an optimal user experience to clients.

Responsible for guiding the user experience for Exactuals new and existing products.

This role is inherently cross-functional and requires a high level of critical thinking.

A successful candidate will be analytical, customer focused, team oriented, and will have an ability to work independently to meet deadlines.

This individual should have a passion for empathizing with the needs and behaviors of our users, and how to solve for them through design.The UX Design Lead is the main UX contact for multiple products/projects.

They work with the UX Lead for strategic direction, prioritization and resourcing.

They are responsible in collaboration with their colleauges for the success of a product/project and held accountable for pushing the best user experience possible.

The UX Design Lead is responsible for Deliver the most value to users as effectively as possible by understanding users, and sorting between wants, needs, and must-haves They will be responsible Responsible for breaking a project work into small iterations and ensuring the its clear what needs to be researched, designed, tested and developed for their deliverables.

Will work with Stakeholders to integrate UX testing into the process.

Meets with business stakeholders to present or co-present design deliverables.

Ensures deliverables are being created that meet UX standards, are approved, and fit within the schedule of the project and the Exactuals User Centered Design Framework.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Manage the UX Team deliverables.

    Oversee the development of creative deliverables.

    Responsible for ensuring deliverables adhere to established Exactuals/CNB patterns

  • Demonstrate strong visual design skill, ability to solve UX (User Experience) problems, ability to work within an existing visual system and to create new, extensible patterns.
  • Responsible for conceptualizing and delivering design assets that meet business and usability objectives
  • Actively participate in negotiating and resolving project UX issues or concerns with the business stakeholders.
  • Facilitate Design Sprints/User Experience Iteration
  • Focus on product framework, structure and user flows over individual UI (User Interface) elements (visual and interaction)
  • Identify User Experience and User Centered Design framework improvements opportunities to increase overall and more consistent UX
  • Lead the standardization of patterns and components across the Exactuals portfolio of products
  • Ensure that the user experience and overall UI is intuitive for all the Exactuals products
  • Build relationships across disciplines with designers, product managers, subject matter experts, developers and engineers as the UX teams grows
  • Effectively collaborates and shares work with team members, as well as cross-functional teams
  • Has an established process for thinking through problems
  • Works well within existing visual and UX patterns, but knows when and how to break out
  • Spreads design thinking and helps to educate cross-functional teams
  • Provides solid feedback and help to team members
  • Accepts and resolves critique gracefully
  • Writes documentation for various UX subjects

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Must-Have*

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience leading creative projects, application redesigns, or interactive projects
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in User Experience Design and/or Human Computer Interaction
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience conducting user tests, Face-to-face interviews and Field research
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience with iOS styles, standards, and methodologies; User Centered Design (UCD) process
  • Mimumim of 3+ years coordination resources, people or projects

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proven experience leading the design, architecting, and optimization of consumer-facing applications
  • Solid understanding of user experience best practices, standards, and visual design principles.
  • A critical thinker with excellent conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of SCRUM / Agile project management techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Great design sensibility skills, with extreme attention to detail
  • Ability to leverage user testing and data to inform design decisions
  • Familiarity with current web, mobile and app development technologies and current design trends
  • Solid knowledge of HTML/CSS techniques
  • Professional portfolio demonstrating problem-solving abilities and outlining level of participation for each project
