Our National Tax Department (NTD) serves high-profile, national and multinational clients, providing a range of modeling and analysis as part of domestic and international transactional tax planning services and tax-related advisory services. The combination of knowledge and experience forms the basis of our ability to assist clients in meeting their business objectives. Our Passthrough Transactions Group (PTG) specializes in the analysis of partnership and joint-venture transactions covering a variety of industries. Drawing on our academic background in law, accounting, economics and finance, as well as our substantial industry experience, we work closely with our clients and alongside other groups at EY, including M&A, Capital Markets, and International Tax. As a Staff, you’ll utilize a wide range of financial modeling techniques and gain substantial knowledge of partnership transaction, and your work will help quantify and inform joint-venture business decisions for our diverse clients.
Your typical day will involve working in small groups on fast-paced projects with internal or external clients. You’ll be heavily involved in drafting formal deliverables, developing customized financial models, researching industry and company financials and speaking to your findings. On top of this you’ll be exposed to companies across various industries and located around the world, learning new things every day. We’ll look to you to get familiar with certain tax policies and their implications and to build your knowledge around research tools and resources so you can speak articulately about a business, industry, or market development.
Your key responsibilities
- Provide tax consulting services to clients on all aspects of joint venture and partnership tax matters, including acquisition, formation, operation, restructuring and disposition issues
- Assist in the preparation of financial models to quantify the various transactional outcomes that results from a variety of financial transactions, including asset acquisitions, disposition deals, capital structure transformations and corporate reorganizations
- Provide high-quality and time sensitive service to support our clients’ critical business needs
- Prepare reports and client presentations
- Work at all levels of transaction structuring and execution and form evaluating alternative structures through tax reporting
- Compile documentation related to each analysis
- Build on technical competence by taking advantage of learning from nationally recognized tax professionals
- Demonstrate professionalism through a positive and cooperative attitude and by maintaining the confidential and proprietary nature of client relationships and related work products

- Qualifications.
- A predicted undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Operations Research, Financial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or other quantitative majors; an advanced degree in Tax or Law is a plus
- Strong quantitative skills with an emphasis on financial statement analysis, accounting and/or corporate finance
- Proficient with MS Office, including MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint; Power BI is a plus
- Previous experience building financial models in MS Excel; VBA programming experience is a plus
- Interest in corporate mergers and acquisitions and federal income taxation; prior experience is a plus
- Interest in pursuing or progress towards the CFA designation is a plus
- Willing and able to learn and work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work as part of a team and interact effectively with clients
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure in a deal-driven environment
- Flexible and willing to travel as well as work in excess of standard hours when necessary
