Leidos is in search of a multi-talented Unreal Engineer to join our studio with an existing team of artists, programmers, and designers in creating “cutting edge” Virtual Reality (VR) and PC advanced training for the United States Air Force. This is a 100% teleworking position. Our client is a visionary leader that is bringing VR and digital training to the forefront of Air Force technical and specialty training for Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) analyst and operators around the world. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your proven AAA industry experience to create stunning photorealistic digital training for the U.S. Air Force.

As a Unreal Engineer, you will work with a team of programmers focused on developing PC and VR training solutions in Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5. This is a unique opportunity where your knowledge and expertise shines as a positive force, pushing the boundaries each day while also serving as the focused point of knowledge for Unreal programming techniques, solutions, and approaches. Your goal is to ensure excellence and on-time delivery of our solutions to our customer while bolstering team expertise and accountability. We are looking for your creativity, experience, and positive energy to create the Defense industries most immersive and comprehensive virtual training. Projects include building “digital twins” of military aircraft, vehicles, military hardware, replicating physical environments, and creating first person language simulations.

Responsibilities:

Implementing, debugging, and optimizing major systems in training applications using Unreal Engine with Blueprints and C++.

Ability to task engineering team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring best practices, successful task completion, collaboration, and communication.

Collaborate with the Creative Director and Project Manager on project requirements and execute product vision.

Serve as a voice of expertise willing to mentor, share, and solve problems with your knowledge of Unreal and game development.

Requirements:

4+ years of engineering experience in games or related industries.

Bachelor’s degree or (4 years of equivalent industry experience and training may be considered in lieu of degree).

Extensive codebase maintenance experience

Experience with the development of game and product features with a systemic, modular optimized code approach

Strong level of understanding of all aspects of the Unreal Editor, Blueprint, and Engine. Fluency with C++ development using Unreal.

Strong knowledge of PC development pipelines, best practices, and engineering department structure.

Experience in developing multiplayer games in VR.

Desire to both teach others and learn new techniques in the Unreal Engine.

Motivated, self-directed with strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.

Ability to take creative direction and implement feedback.

Qualify and obtain security clearance (requires US citizenship).

Ability to work in a dynamic, cross-functional and 100% teleworking environment.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $74,750.00 – $115,000.00 – $155,250.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
