Our year-round internship programs allow undergraduate students to work in several areas before they graduate.

Schools with co-operative programs typically have specific requirements to receive co-op credit.
So, we designed our co-op program at the CIA to help students meet those requirements.
As part of our program, students work on an alternating semester basis for at least three semesters before they graduate.
This can include a summer work session as well.
Since our Agency does not work with an established list of co-op programs, students will need to work with their schools to receive academic credit.

As a Multi-Discipline Security Officer (MDSO) Intern for CIA, you will work side-by-side with other MDSOs in the collection and analysis of information regarding risks to CIA personnel, facilities, information, and operations.
MDSOs recommend and carry out actions to protect CIA and the United States from individuals and organizations that would do us harm.
As an Undergraduate Intern, you are expected to develop, display, and hone analytic and communication skills during your exposure to various security disciplines in order to protect and facilitate the business of intelligence.
You will have the opportunity to assist Multi-Disciplined Security Officers as they do the following work to support Agency customers:
Utilize basic elicitation skills and interview techniques to conduct interviews with subjects, references, and informants on common investigative and security issues
Analyze information collected by a variety of investigative tools, in particular, the background investigation and polygraph examination
Provide support to a workforce of adjudicators, investigators, polygraph examiners, analysts, and security technicians
Serve as a focal point for office-wide corporate and management information tracking metrics, resource allocation, process improvement efforts, and a multitude of regulatory compliance issue.
Conduct event-driven and time-critical special investigations, unauthorized disclosures investigations, and computer security investigations.
The MDSO career can also involve the collection, analysis, and reporting of security or counterintelligence related information, resource management, policy, and liaison with other Intelligence Community and U.S.
Government partners.
Both classroom and on-the-job training is provided, most of which is in the Washington, DC area.

Minimum Qualifications
Full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in one of the following fields or related studies:
Business or Business Information Systems Computer Science or Computer Security Criminal Justice English Journalism Liberal Arts Management Psychology Availability to work either a combination of one semester and one summer internship or two 90-day summer internships At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale Attending school on a full-time basis before/following this internship Excellent written and verbal communications skills Strong commitment to continuous learning High levels of trustworthiness, integrity, and loyalty to the U.S.
Government Ability to follow directions and work in a team environment Ability to undergo successful occupational testing to include an aptitude test, writing test, personality inventory, and interview Ability to meet the minimum requirements for joining CIA, including U.S.
citizenship and a background investigation
