Who we’re looking for:

We’re searching for a Talent Generalist to join the Western Region team, with offices in Seattle, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

This role will start remotely, but will ultimately be based in the Los Angeles office.

We are looking for an individual who is action-oriented, loves helping people and is ready to play a vital role within the Talent Team. 

The Talent Generalist should have at least three years of experience in Human Resources/Talent Management or a related field, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and can juggle a variety of responsibilities with appropriate prioritization. They should be able to work well in a fast environment under pressure, possess strong follow-up and creative problem-solving skills and have the ability to respond quickly to requests and questions with sound judgment. 

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, keen attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information are critical.

The Generalist should also possess training and presentation skills and have the ability to interact with all levels of staff. 

Responsibilities:

The Talent Generalist will have the opportunity to work across the field of human resources by performing a variety of duties alongside a dynamic team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Employee Relations:

  • Support our Talent Managers in the West with traditional HRBP responsibilities 
  • Conduct exit interviews with departing employees
  • Work with employees and managers on performance management needs 
  • Facilitate leaves of absence 
  • Support employee engagement surveys, communications and action plans 
  • Help with succession planning and other talent management projects
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders on best practices, compliance and improved decision-making 
  • Communicate and provide interpretation of company policies and programs to internal and external audiences 
  • Identify solutions to problems by collecting and analyzing information and recommending courses of action 
  • Diplomatically navigate and leverage resources and stakeholders to provide mutually-beneficial solutions to conflicts 
  • Understand and display good judgment regarding the overall business, applicable laws and policies, internal and external culture and the firm’s vision, mission and values 
  • Partner with employees, managers and hiring managers to determine appropriate staffing needs 
  • Serve as a contact for employees and/or candidates to assist in resolving issues, navigating dynamics, answering inquiries and driving career growth 
  • Counsel employees and/or candidates on effective solutions to problems 
  • Build and maintain a network of credibility, trust and confidence with stakeholders 
  • Provide constructive and respectful feedback to employees and team members 
  • Help employees identify development opportunities for themselves and their staff; contribute to employee development through feedback and training 

Projects and Talent Programming:

  • Support or assist with specialty functions, projects and responsibilities
  • Support diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Support regional HR leaders with additional reactive and proactive projects, as requested 

Learning & Development:

  • Partner with managers to develop onboarding plans for new hires, and at time facilitate new hire orientation meetings.
  • Support learning & development opportunities by coordinating and/or leading trainings
  • Creatively propose solutions to problems with an employee learning & development lens

Additional Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Demonstrate professional behaviors and pursuit of excellence in all endeavors 
  • Communicate with employees effectively, serving as an ambassador of the Edelman brand, while living the firm’s core values 
  • Take ownership of the work and see projects through within designated deadlines 
  • Perform miscellaneous duties for projects as assigned by the Talent Team 

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least three years’ progressive experience in human resources or a related field or equivalent military experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Interest in innovative HR in a professional services environment 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail 
  • Effective training and presentation skills 
  • Ability to fulfill project execution and follow-up, balance multiple priorities and work under pressure within established time constraints 
  • Ability to solve problems and quickly respond to inquiries with sound judgment 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
