The hiring manager for this role is Fangyuan Li who manages the networking team for the Tanzu Kubernetes Grid (TKG) product.

His management style relies heavily on leveraging the diverse and varied experiences of those on my teams and encouraging independent though and out of the box thinking.

I believe that my approach is due to my own nontraditional journey: I studied math in college, started in a start up as a data engineer intern, came to VMware as a software engineer working on infrastructure, and became an engineering manager over time.

To this end I tend to take a hands off approach on my teams, letting them decide for themselves what to work on and the best approach to take.

This role is on the TKG Networking team.

Currently that team is composed of seven engineers who work in a very collaborative environment and split their attention upstream and downstream.
