Sommelier
Thatcher’s Wine
Wine Shop | Sommelier | Brentwood, Los Angeles
Opening Fall 2023 Full Time
This is a Sommelier position, with a minimum of 5 years Fine European Wine experience for a Wine Retail shop.
Thatcher’s Wine is driven by the excitement and passion of our skilled sommelier team. Our training is rooted in Michelin-starred restaurants and the traditions of old-world wineries, paired with a curiosity for discovering emerging regions and young winemakers who are actively moving the industry forward. From sought-after classics to small productions, we personally select each bottle featured on our site. Founded in 2018, and originally focused on Cellar Consulting, Thacher’s Wine expanded with an e-commerce wine shop, followed by Thatcher’s Imports in 2020. After a considerable amount of growth in under 5 years, we decided it was time to plant roots in Los Angeles, and open our first Brick and Mortar, Thatcher’s Wine LA
Thatcher’s Wine LA will be a reflection of the inventory available at thatcherswine.com, following the same ethos and philosophies, featuring wines from some of the world’s most dynamic Domaines and emerging winemakers. From exceptional everyday bottles to rarified finds, our highly curated cellar focuses on honest expressions of climate and terroir from across Europe. We always look to provide a unique wine-buying experience, taking what we have learned from working in Michelin restaurant environments and applying it to wine retail and relationships.
Due to opening this fall, we are hiring a sommelier team to work directly with the Wine Director/ GM and closely with the operations team and ownership. The Sommelier team will be responsible for assisting in day-to-day operations, inventory management, sales & more. The Sommelier will be responsible for cultivating guest-facing relationships driven by wine knowledge and hospitality. The Sommelier will need to be fluent and confident in having conversations about fine European wine and a global understanding of the world of wine. We are looking for eager candidates with a passion for European wine and hospitality.
