Requirements:    

  • Experience: 3-6 years of Safety Specialist or related experience is required. Experience within a manufacturing or warehouse environment is preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety or CSP certified preferred
  • Computer Skills: Strong proficiency with SharePoint, Word, Excel, Power-Point
  • Language: Bilingual; speaks, reads, and writes English and Spanish fluently
  • Schedule: Flexible scheduling to include nights and weekends 

Job Description:   

The Safety Specialist will be responsible of providing guidance in the development, administration, and implementation of safety programs that result in a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provides administrative and technical advice to both management and employees 
  • Ensures compliance with all Federal, State & local laws and regulations
  • Reviews, updates, and communicates safety procedures
  • Promotes employee safety awareness by coordinating and facilitating engaging training
  • Executes tactical strategy of Company Safety Program
  • Collects and interprets data from job-hazard analyses
  • Conducts investigations and reports to management safety trends, Key stakeholder in Department Safety Committees, Manages incentive programs and serves as the Safety Officer during emergency situations
  • Makes recommendations on disciplinary action to management to drive a safety culture of accountability
  • Promotes wellness and positive behaviors through a meaningful recognition program.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:   

  • Communicates effectively with the ability to facilitate training to a wide variety of audiences
  • Partners collaboratively with key stakeholders across the business to get buy-in on safety programs
  • Strong decision-making ability and consistently demonstrates sound judgment 
  • Ability to position self as credible and influence without authority
  • Organized; ability to multi-task and prioritize competing priorities & meets deadlines
  • Knowledgeable on Federal, State and local laws, including OSHA / NFPA / Workers’ Compensation
  • Knowledgeable of safety and health regulations, regulatory agency interaction processes, and incident response 
  • Attention to details with an ability to conduct thorough and high quality investigations
  • Demonstrates sound problem-solving skills with an emphasis on proactive solutions 
  • Ability to remain calm and collected in potentially high-pressure situations
  • Customer service-centric; understands the business and tailors approach appropriately
