PayPal is hiring a Principal Security Engineer for its Blockchain and Digital Currency organization to expand its security assessment practice.
We seek people with the desire and capacity to build and share expertise in the frontier technologies of crypto and blockchain.

We are looking to expand our core security team by hiring a blockchain Principal Security Engineer who shares our passion for information security and decentralized systems, and our insatiable curiosity of how things work (and break). This role is for a Principal Security Engineer where the ideal candidate would be a seasoned security assessor and Blockchain enthusiast with experience in decentralized system security (e.g. smart contract auditing), who is looking to help secure software at the core of leading projects in the blockchain ecosystem.
In this role you will:
Provide security guidance on new blockchain products and technologies.
Be responsible for assessing blockchain security vulnerabilities and new blockchain security events.
Conduct security research and vulnerability mining on blockchain public chain and application layer.
Take a supporting and collaborative role in driving internal blockchain security and privacy initiatives.
Interact with the line of business and PayPal cyber leadership community regarding blockchain vulnerabilities and threats.
Create effective and pragmatic cryptographic designs leveraging fundamental cryptographic algorithms and the underlying mathematics, such as finite field arithmetic.
Validate state-of-the-art algorithms and protocols across a broad range of architectures, including considerations to side-channel attacks, performance, and memory/code size constraints.
You will become the primary security expert for multiple product lines, and act as the point of contact for engineering and security.
Support engineering with implementing security fixes, ensuring security scanners are utilized correctly and develop strategies to proactively secure their architecture.
Create threat models and leverage them to prioritize time-based on risk impact.
About You:
Currently, be working on blockchain security-related work.
Have a deep understanding of side-channel attacks and other challenges to modern applied cryptography.
Be familiar with common vulnerability principles and mining skills.
Be familiar with common blockchain development frameworks, experience in static code analysis, reverse engineering experience is a plus.
Have experience in assessing consensus mechanisms.
