n n nAmerican Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biologyn nnThe Cedars-Sinai Infectious and Immunological Diseases Research Center (IIDRC) and the Pediatrics Department, and the Arditi Lab are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist, for NIH-funded cardiovascular research.
The Infectious and Immunological Diseases Research Center (IIDRC), investigates innate immunity and host-pathogen interactions as they relate to acute and chronic inflammatory diseases, with particular focus on cardiovascular inflammation and lung inflammation/injury and gut microbiome as well as gender differences.
This is an NIH funded postdoctoral position to investigate the immunobiology of cardiovascular inflammation, including the two experimental murine models of inflammation, Kawasaki Disease vasculitis/abdominal aorta aneurysm and myocarditis mouse model, and murine models of atherosclerosis.
Role of innate and adaptive immunity, discovery of novel therapeutics and the role of gut microbiome and sex differences in these experimental models are the focus of the laboratory.
The lab also investigates the basic mechanism of NLRP3 inflammasome activation and IL-1beta production.

The candidate will perform routine and complex cellular, molecular biology experiments as well as to conduct experiments for using murine models of cardiovascular diseases to investigate vascular immunobiology questions throughout the training period.
Will develop, adapt, implement and learn new research techniques and protocols.
Will analyze, interpret and present research data.
Will assist in the preparation of grant proposals.
Will participate in manuscript preparation and publications and abstract presentations as author or co-author.
Will assist in preparation of grant proposals, and will be encouraged to apply for fellowship grants.nn nnEducation requirements:nn nnDoctorate (PhD,) in Immunology, Immunobiology, microbiology and areas directly related to field of research specialization.nn nnExperIEnce requirements:nn nnExperience in microscopic imaging and mouse dissection and experience in handling mice, including genotyping and breeding are strongly preferred.
Independently works on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within an area of specialization.
