The Paralegal works with various associates throughout the organization to ensure that appropriate regulatory policies, procedures and controls are established, documented, and adhered to.

This position reports to the Associate Vice President.< /div><Div> </div>< Div><B> <Br>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:< /b></div> <Ul><Li> Conduct research and monitor all legal matters that present an organizational risk< /li><Li> Investigate, fact-check,and answer all Fair Housing complaints in a timely manner< /li><Li> Conduct year-round compliance audits to ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local rules with a focus on apartment lease contracts and utility billing< /li><Li> File all low-income housing renewal applications< /li><Li> Track and renew all DBAsand Trademarks< /li><Li> Maintain and monitor apartment application/lease contract software< /li><Li> Organize and archive alllegal/compliance-related documents< /li><Li> Maintain and monitor in-house tracker to ensure all compliance-related items are timely addressed< /li><Li> Assist with any special projects, as they arise< /li></ul> <Div></div> <Div><B> <Br>Other duties include:< /b></div> <Div></div> <Div><Br> Lease Management:< /div><Ul> <Li>Maintain and monitor apartment application/lease contract software (Blue Moon) and ensure the leases and addenda are in compliance for all states< /li><Li> Conduct QC audits to confirm adherence< /li></ul> <Div></div> <Div><Br> Utility Billing:< /div><Ul> <Li>Ensure ongoing compliance with the ever changing utility billing regulations by jurisdiction< /li><Li> Review all regulatory changes in advance to provide ample time for management’s review and implementation< /li></ul> <Div></div> <Div><Br> Audits:< /div><Ul> <Li>Responsible for conducting systematic audits to confirm adherence to all company policies and procedures including leases, fair housing, signages, DBA filings, licensing, etc.< /li></ul> <Div>Miscellaneous:< /div><Ul> <Li>Conduct various special projects as they arise, for example, projects relating to fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, OSHA safety requirements, pool drain covers, record retention, etc.< /li><Li> Answer all Fair Housing complaints which require thorough investigation and knowledge of Fair Housing rules< /li><Li> File all low-income housing renewal applications< /li></ul> <Div><B> Please apply if you have:< /b></div> <Ul><Li> Experience as a Paralegal 1-3 years< /li><Li> Bachelors degree is helpful, but not required< /li><Li> Audit, compliance, project management and multifamily housing experience is helpful< /li><Li> Working knowledge of compliance issues that relate to the multifamily housing industry is helpful< /li><Li> Possess excellent time and project management skills, organization, and flexibility< /li><Li> Strong analytical, organizational, problem solving and critical thinking abilities to mitigate problems< /li><Li> Ability to effectively handle a variety of issues simultaneously that differ in nature, complexity and resolution stage< /li><Li> Ability to manage multiple projects with an eye for detail and attention to deadlines< /li><Li> Ability to write clear and effective correspondence, policies and procedures, and reports< /li><Li> Work well independently as well as within a team< /li><Li> Excellent oral and written communication skills< /li><Li> Strong computer skills, particularly Excel and Word< /li></ul> <Div></div> <Div><Br> Consistent with our company values, IMT Residential is an Equal Opportunity Employer with a strong commitment to cultivating a diverse and inclusive environment.< /div><Div> </div>< Div><Br> We provide equal opportunities to all IMT associates and applicants for all terms and conditions of employment including recruiting, hiring, placement, compensation, training, transfer, promotion, leave of absence, termination, layoff, and recall.
