Operator I – Assembly

OverviewThis position is responsible for producing products and components by assembling parts and subassemblies. Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and/or visual factory. Operates industrial production and processing machinery in a safe, clean, and efficient manner. Leviton’s Intense & Birchwood brands are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as Operator I, Assembly to contribute to the growth of our Anaheim facility.Responsibilities* Assemble parts according to work instruction, verbal instruction, drawings, and/or diagrams* Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements* Executes assembly sequence duties consistently meeting productivity and quality expectations Loads materials and products into package processing equipment; weighs materials to ensure compliance with specifications* Obtains, moves, sorts, and labels material, and containers* Operate production machinery, as neededLocal Essential Functions* Perform hands on production and assembly functions.* Assemble, replace components and rework products per assembly process specifications.* Ability to use measurement tools and compare measurements to schematic / drawings.* Conduct product testing utilizing Multimeters, Hypot and other standard test equipment.* Understand and follow assembly instructions as given by Assembly Supervisor.* Inspect work in progress to documented quality standards.* Meet quality standard of the company.* Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the lighting assembly field.* Continue training in new processes and products.* Other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation & Experience* High School education or GED preferred* Minimum 3 months experience working in a production environmentSkills & Abilities* Ability to read, understand, and navigate through online assembly process documents* Understanding of basic math skills – adding, subtracting and measuring* Ability to read drawings & blueprints* Ability to safely utilize assembly tools as appropriate for the successful completion of production tasks* Ability to communicate and follow instructions effectively both verbally and in written format* Ability to use judgement related to identifying potential safety hazards* Ability to multi-taskWork Environment/Physical Demands:* Work is primarily performed on the manufacturing floor where noise levels may be moderate or high and hearing protection may have to be worn* Eye and foot protection may have to be worn* There is potential for lifting weights up to 45 lbs.* There is potential exposure to extreme temperatures* The occasional physical demands of the position include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and eye/hand/foot coordination* Required to stand for prolonged periods of timeLeviton is an EEO/AA Employer.
