Our location in Sylmar, CA, currently has an opportunity for a NPI Sourcing Specialist.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Working without appreciable supervision, you will have responsibility for sourcing of assigned parts and bill of materials in support of products/projects  in the New Product Introduction timeline.  Works with supplier base to purchase raw materials, schedule/expedite the delivery and track material/component support of the program. This position’s responsibilities include: product cost and timing of procured components; working with cross-functional project teams and other members of the Supply Chain team to achieve component COGS targets; adherence to tooling budgets; execution of established sourcing strategies; and meeting project schedules, project milestones and Phase Gate deliverables.

Main Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and maintenance of the production schedule, ensuring the availability of required resources to meet the production schedule.
  • Generate purchase requisitions for materials to sustain manufacturing schedules.
  • Monitors raw material and subassembly delivery dates and follows up as necessary.
  • Helps to identify issues which may impact the manufacturing schedule and updates necessary personnel of the status.
  • Negotiates routine purchases of raw materials and other expense items for the department.
  • Maintains supplier/vendor relations and tracks associated supplier/vendor performance metrics.
  • Reviews supplier/vendor performance metrics with management and partners to develop action plans.
  • Updates the ERP/MRP as necessary and generates moderately complex reports for various team members.
  • Identifies and executes plans related to continuous improvement.
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or business preferred or an equivalent combination of education and work experience Minimum
  • 5+ years In Engineering, planning and/or purchasing.  
  • 3+ years’ of medical device industry experience preferred 
  • 3+ years’ experience with MRP/ERP supply chain systems preferred.
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment. 
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%, including internationally.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
