You will conduct complex scientific or technical analyses that require the synthesis of diverse disciplines and alternatives; solutions may be developed under conditions of uncertainty or where little precedent exists.As the primary domain expert for this technical area, you will set and drive strategy for a broad set of technical initiatives and will be empowered to make decisions and be held accountable for results that significantly impact the annual operating plan (AOP) and long-range strategic plan (LRSP) outcomes and other major initiatives.

You will also act as a thought leader representing the business within the customer community and within industry groups.Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Northridge, CA is currently seeking to fill a Northrop Grumman Fellow (Mission Concepts Engineering) position to support the Advanced Programs Operating Unit.

As a recognized leader in their technical domain, the qualified candidate will join Engineering, Program, Business Development and Strategy leadership in architecting, developing and advancing Future Concepts through Mission Engineering.In this role, you will:Serve as the primary domain expert for Mission Engineering, identifying and quantifying mission capability gaps, focusing attention on technological solutions to meet future mission needs, inform requirements, and support capability portfolio managementDevelop information which extends knowledge in Mission Engineering covering enhanced capabilities, technologies, system interdependencies, and architecturesConduct very complex analyses that require deliberate planning, analyzing, organizing, and integration of current and emerging operational and system capabilities to achieve desired mission effectsGuide the development and prototyping of analytical experiments, in a System of Systems context, to achieve reference missions that close identified mission capability gapsConceptualize future systems and recommend technological application programs to accomplish new mission capabilitiesServe as a thought leader for the organization within the customer community and within industry groups.Interface with Business Development, Strategic Planning and Advanced Concepts teams to synthesize future capabilities and participate in shaping of strategic roadmaps that support long range strategic planProvide key insights and inputs in the development of proposals for technology and product developmentChief technical communicator to design concept weapon system stakeholders.

This includes DoD customers (technologists to General Officers/SESs) and NGC leadership,QualificationsMinimum of 20 years professional experience, with a BS; 18 with MS; 15 with PhD15+ years of experience in weapon system development and applied technology developmentBackground in Operational Analysis and mission-focused analyses and studiesExperience in Digital Engineering and Digital Acquisition best practicesCurrent/Active Secret clearance, or higher.

Clearable to TSSpecial Background Investigation within the last 5 yearsExcellent oral and written communication skillsPreferred QualificationsRecently published or presented technical papers within technical domain of expertiseNetwork of outside technical contacts within industry, professional societies or academiaSalary Range: 191800 287800Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
