– Seal Beach, CA Job Description Qualifications: Boeing is looking for a Mid-Level Flight Management Systems Service Engineer based out of Seal Beach, CA .The primary responsibility in this role will be addressing and resolving in-service issues related to airplane flight management systems .
In this role, you will also be tasked with: working directly with airline customers to analyze complex flight management system issues, developing and performing tests to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements, and monitor supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
The position requires flexibility to address emergent issues and support important airline meetings off-hours.
This position may also require an occasional off-shift work schedule to support the fleet operating 24/7/365.You will be an integral part of supporting all Boeing Commercial Airplane models in-service and under development, including programs such as 747, 767, 777, 787, 737NG, 737 MAX, 777X, and the next generation of commercial airplanes.
Position Responsibilities:
- Works with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements.
- Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
- Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
- Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
- Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product life-cycle.
- Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.
§ 120.15 is required.
“US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
This position allows telecommuting.
The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor’s of Science degree or higher from an ABET (or equivalent) accredited course of study in an engineering discipline, human factors, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or related technical field of study
- 3+ years of engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Flight management systems flight simulation experience (desktop, fixed, and/or motion based)
- Flight management systems experience with Boeing or McDonnell Douglas commercial airplane models
- Ability to work occasional off-shift work schedule to support the fleet operating 24/7/365
- 3+ years of full time aerospace industry experience with Avionics and/or Electrical Systems
- High-quality written and verbal communication skills
Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g.
Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g.
PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience).
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
