Lecturer, African History

The UCLA Department of History seeks applicants for a pool of qualified lecturers to teach lower and upper division undergraduate courses in various fields of history, should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and the number of positions varies by quarter.

The department invites candidates to apply who are qualified to teach the following potential courses in the history of Africa:
* 187 J: Historiography Proseminar: Africa
* other topics as needed by the department

The department is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from a diverse background and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for disadvantaged students.

The department welcomes candidates whose experience in teaching, research or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence. Candidates are encouraged to apply online at to upload information for this position.

Ph.D. must be in hand as of August 15, 2022. Additional requirements are relevant research, scholarship, and teaching experience; a curriculum vitae, sample syllabus for the course or courses for which you are applying, and three references.
