Lab Assistant II

Responsibilities

The Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior is seeking to hire a part-time Lab Assistant to join the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory. Primary duties include:

  • Organize proteomics sample preparation
  • Sample preparation (pipetting, centrifugation, and dilution)
  • Maintenance of mass spectrometers including vacuum pump and oil changes
  • Maintenance of chromatography equipment, cryogen-gas fills
  • Waste solve and lab management
  • Train staff to prepare samples and interpret data
  • Mass Spectral data interpretation
  • Other duties as assigned

Please note we have two openings

Salary range: $26.30-$42.31 Hourly

Qualifications

Familiarity with basic laboratory practices including pipetting and making solutions
Proficiency using PC and MAC
Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs
Prior experience in any area of science-based research (preferred)
Prior experience with GC/MS and LC/MS equipment
Attention to detail
