About the Role

The Systems Administrator L2 is responsible for the integration and implementation of the infrastructure. He/She will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. The task involves junior-level troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and Partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Network administration (including backup, user account management, e-mail system, internet access, & office systems and applications support such as OS-level concerns, web server, database server, applications server, Email including Apache, MySQL, PHP, FTP, SSH, and DNS). Supports network, desktop hardware, software and applications, and virtual environments
  • Rolls out hardware and software to ensure optimal deployment of resources. Assists with technology planning through ongoing research and has Fundamental knowledge of servers/computers hardware and software
  • Design, implement, support, and evaluate secure, infrastructure-focused tools and services
  • Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems
  • Apply operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes
  • Install and configure new hardware and software
  • Add, remove, or update user account information, reset passwords, etc.
  • Answer technical queries and assist users
  • Responsible for security
  • Responsible for documenting the configuration of the system
  • Troubleshoot any reported problems
  • System performance tuning
  • Ensure that the network infrastructure is up and running
  • Configure, add, and delete file systems
  • Ensure parity between dev, test, and production environments
  • Train users
  • Plan and manage the machine room environment

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
  • Team management abilities
  • System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network-related fields are a plus
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Willingness to work on-site at Irvine, CA

Job Type: Full-time
