Hostess

BAVEL is a Middle Eastern restaurant that bridges together fresh ingredients with slow cooking techniques, incorporating aromatic woods, spices, pickling, smoke, and herbs. We serve different versions of flatbreads and spreads, chef's selection of cured meats, cold and hot small plates highlighting vegetables, with large format meat and fish dishes. Our desserts take flavors and ingredients found in the Middle East and build on their traditions with a touch of modernity.

We are currently looking to fill a HOST/RESERVATIONIST position. The ideal candidate is eager to learn and grow with our team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Warmly welcome and graciously greet all guests upon arrival.
  • When possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant.
  • Effectively work the computerized seating and reservation system.
  • Seat guests based on preference and be mindful of customer flow in server stations.
  • Effective phone and email communication with guests.
  • Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor.
  • Handle to go orders both over the phone and via third party delivery applications.

WORKING CONDITIIONS & EXPECTATIONS:

  • Availability to work evenings; restaurant open 7 nights a week.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Always act in a professional manner that represents the restaurant, owners, partners and staff.
  • Demonstrate teamwork in all areas of the restaurant.
  • Work with a positive attitude in all types of situations.
  • Ability to Multitask.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Applicants should have experience managing a door.
  • Applicant must be able to multitask, work efficiently, and anticipate the needs of the restaurant while maintaining a warm and friendly demeanor.
  • Customer service and/or restaurant experience preferred.
  • Organization, follow through and attention to detail.
  • Superior Communication Skills.
  • Food Handlers certificate required.
  • Open Table experience a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (6- 8 hours) and work in a multiple level building.
  • Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver items that may weigh up to 15 pounds.
