Head Of Engineering

About You

We are looking for a Head of Engineering to join Vegamour as our first internal tech hire. You?re constantly looking where the puck is headed and building for the future. You will be a key decision maker when building out our product roadmap and own the engineering scope. You will also own the buildout of our internal tech team, including leveraging our dev agency as a resource as we scale. You?re ready to build out key components of the site while guiding a growing team of engineers. The ideal hire has extensive e-commerce experience and background working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Our custom Shopify theme is built with Liquid, Javascript, Sass, Gulp. You have a strong proficiency in writing modern front-end JavaScript, including experience working with frameworks and configuring JavaScript tooling.

What Your Day Looks Like

• Collaborating with our Head of Product, UX designer and other key stakeholders to develop innovative experiences that scale

• Scoping out potential functionality and integrations to help define the product roadmap

• Building out new functionality with our custom Shopify theme and updating existing components as needed to adhere to best practices

• Oversee development QA and adherence

• Troubleshooting and resolution tracking while reducing product risk

• Owning and building out our internal engineering team through the hire of key team members and outside resources

What Your Experience Looks Like

• 7+ years managing the development, testing, delivery, and support of clean, high-quality, high-performance, maintainable code

• 2+ years of eCommerce development experience within the Shopify ecosystem – you?re comfortable with updating and implementing apps while leveraging APIs & scripts for outside integrations and native builds

• Experience building and managing a strong engineering team in an iterative, fast-paced environment

• Demonstrated ability to define and build complex engineering initiatives that scale

• Strong understanding of web and mobile best practices

• High attention to detail and QA in alignment with defined acceptance criteria

• Able to manage multiple projects at once and switch priorities as needed

Bonus Points if You Have

• Subscriptions experience (we currently use Recharge)

• Mobile app and/or PWA experience

• Headless development experience
