Fidelity National Law Group (in-house counsel for Fortune 500 Fidelity National Financial companies) is seeking an experienced trial attorney to join its Downtown Los Angeles office.
Fidelity National Law Group specializes in title insurance, escrow, and related real property litigation, including representation of insureds.
This is a trial attorney position responsible for independent, aggressive case handling.
Applicants must demonstrate a superior knowledge and expertise in trial practice and provide excellent client service.
Responsibilities:Litigate cases to verdict, demonstrating superior use of trial skills and techniques.Independently handle a full caseload with moderate level of severity and complexity from case inception through trial/resolution.Work under the guidance of senior counsel in litigating complex and high exposure files.Independently draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other legal documents.Conduct legal research as needed and supervise projects delegated to paralegals.
Candidate must also demonstrate an ability to mentor, train and work collegially with legal support staff.Attend court hearings, depositions and other appointments independently.Provide recommendations and case analysis to clients and claims personnel on appropriate file handling strategy.Complete all required administrative tasks including preparing reports, tracking time and other matters appropriate to performance of job duties.
No client billing or marketing required in the position.Learn and understand claim customer’s expectations and key department business goals and assists them in meeting those goals.Travel as required for case appearances, primarily 10 southernmost California counties.
Graduation from an accredited law school and 15+ year’s legal experience required.
Prior trial experience as lead trial counsel a must.
First chair jury trial experience preferred.
Articulate presentation skills using technology, strong and persuasive legal writing, and oral advocacy skills are required.
Candidates must also effectively understand and utilize technology, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office products, and other law office management programs.Applicants must be licensed with the State Bar of California, with no record of discipline.Competitive salary and benefits offered commensurate with experience.
