Instructs less qualified machinists and fabricators and acts as a project leader on complex projects. Reports to and assists the Supervisor in prioritizing work, project design, planning, record keeping, and ordering parts and materials. Requirements Must demonstrate excellent people and communication skills including the ability to read and interpret documents such as operating, maintenance and repair manuals. Must be a problem solver and have the proven ability to work under pressure to meet critical timelines and objectives. The ability to operate shop equipment including mills, lathes, programmable cutter, brake, shear, and other common types of shop equipment. Experience with commonly used welding processes including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and plasma and oxyfuel cutting. Welding certifications required for SMAW and FCAW welding processes. Must be able to communicate concepts and designs via shop drawings and detailed plans. Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as, operating, maintenance, and repair manuals. The ability to operate Windows based software applications. Possess a valid Class C Driver’s License with 3 points or less. Must have completed or be willing to complete the 10-hour OSHA General Industry training course. *Offers of employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation.
