Employee Relations Specialist

It’s always a GOOD day in SoCal As a part of the Employee Relations (ER) team, the Employee Relations Specialist engages with employees and managers to proactively support the delivery of HR processes. This critical role provides assistance and guidance to managers on employee relations issues, including coaching and mentoring managers, reviewing and providing input on performance concerns, disciplinary actions and conflict management resolutions. The ER Specialist conducts investigations of workplace misconduct allegations and employee claims and reports the findings to management. This position requires frequent local travel to Goodwill’s retail store locations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Acts as a single point of the contact for Goodwill employees and managers and proactively supports the delivery of HR Processes. Provides assistance and guidance to managers and supervisors regarding employee relations issues; including coaching and mentoring managers, reviewing and providing input on performance concerns, disciplinary actions and conflict management resolutions. Reviews turnover statistics and conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings and discusses trends and concerns with management. Works with the managers to understand and implement new and existing company policy and procedures. Personally conducts investigations of workplace misconduct allegations and/or employee claims, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with management. Documents and maintains employee files and reviews documentation to ensure policies and procedures are applied consistently. Helps develop internal leaders and a positive culture, by proactively providing coaching, counseling and training to staff as needed. Recommends training and development needs for employees and conducts in-person training. Frequent local travel to Goodwill Southern California locations. A valid driver’s license and state-required auto insurance are necessary. Driving record must be acceptable to company’s vendor. Education & Experience 2 years of managerial and supervisory experience, preferred. 2-3 years of Human Resources experience, preferred. Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university preferred. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification or SHRM-CP Certification preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to write concise report and possess strong presentation skills. Excellent problem solving skills and attention to details. Proven ability to maintain a professional philosophy that is aligned with the company values and culture. Demonstrated abilities to work with all levels of employees including individuals with disabilities. Effective in multi-tasking and able to work with minimal supervision. Non-profit experience helpful. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred Excellent computer skills. Background and Drug Screen required. Valid California Driver’s License and vehicle insurance required. The annual base salary range for this position is $52,966 – $79,450.
