There are three posts within the Emergency Department, ER1, ER2 and ER3 (hours of coverage 24/7).
The emergency department assigned Security Professionals need to have exceptional, gracious and empathetic ‘Customer Service’ and will have control over areas of the ED.
These areas include the ED front lobby, ED waiting room area, visitor bathrooms, ED parking areas, making rounds in the ambulance bay and throughout the back of the ED as specified by policies and post orders.
Observes and reports for safety and security deficiencies, taking corrective action(s) or reporting same to Hospital Facilities Department and the emergency department for action(s).
This position requires an individual to be able to stay on their feet for up to (8) consecutive hours, walk in and around the ED, have the physical strength to confront whatever situation presented with.
This position has physically demanding and mentally challenging conditions and occasional exposure to disagreeable elements.
Must be able to assist the ED in responding to all Code Gray (Combative Person) activated calls and be able to de-escalate visitors or patients that are getting verbally aggressive with the staff.
