Since raising a $45 million Series A investment, the Output team is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced copy/editorial writer and editor to support a wide variety of projects within the marketing department and the brand at large.

The ideal candidate is a sharp, passionate, and adaptable writer who is deeply knowledgeable about the intersection of music and technology at a consumer level.

They are equally comfortable writing plugin tutorials, artist features, and Facebook ads.

How you’ll add value:
Conceptualize and write new editorial content for Output’s blog several times a week with an SEO mindset.

Be a champion for Output’s tone of voice across all written touchpoints.

Assist in writing engaging copy for campaigns, emails, tutorials, our website, film scripts, and more.

Draft and publish well-formatted written content via WordPress.

Translate and edit messaging created by cross functional departments into copy that can achieve strategic business goals.

Be an ally to marketers, art directors, product designers, project managers, developers, and everyone else at Output.

Keep editorial projects on track across contractors and stakeholders.

Regularly edit and audit copy across the Output brand; speak up when there are inconsistencies in communication.

Analyze metrics to validate written content and strategy.

Present work with confidence, rally your teammates around ideas, and sell your thoughts and concepts to key stakeholders.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role:
5+ years in an editorial or content writing role with a background in music and/or tech journalism.

Experience at a major digital media publication is a plus.

Keen understanding of the music-making, music business, and music technology industries.

Up to speed on music production tools, performance styles, and techniques.

Able to communicate complicated ideas into digestible and compelling short and long-form copy.

Demonstrate impeccable attention to detail, excellent grammar, and top-notch copywriting and editing skills.

Able to provide a portfolio of relevant writing samples.

Deep understanding of tone and style differences across written mediums.

Technically advanced.

Comfortable with publishing on the WordPress platform, using SEO tools, and project management tools like ClickUp Champion of music technology and passion for multiple musical genres including hip-hop, electronic, pop, cinematic, and more.

Up to speed on emergent music culture.

Output has made a name for itself as one of the fastest growing, creative, and influential music-making software companies in the world.

The likes of Kendrick Lamar, Bjork, Rihanna, James Blake, Imagine Dragons, Justin Timberlake, Nine Inch Nails and many more use our software to write music as well as hit shows and films like Stranger Things, Game of Thrones, and Black Panther.
