Disney Culinary Program

Job Summary:As a Disney Culinary Program participant at the Walt Disney World® Resort, you will become part of the magic that is known worldwide, gain on-the-job experience working in our parks and resorts, participate in unique learning experiences, and have the opportunity to meet and live with people from all over the world in the housing community. You will embark on a new journey with our Culinary Program as you create lasting impressions and unforgettable dining experiences for our guests from around the world. Master your craft as you work side-by side with culinary leaders in areas that range from catering and fine dining to pastry and quick-service.

We are recruiting for programs that begin anywhere from August 2021 to March 2022.

Individual Program lengths vary and may be in accordance with your school requirements. Program length must be between 3 months (12 weeks) to 7 months (28 weeks).

You will indicate your arrival availability at time of interview.
Responsibilities:A day in the life:

Culinary Assistant, Cook II

* Working in an a la carte, buffet, catering/special events, or quick-service/food court environment (may include an on-stage cooking location)
* Working with basic recipes and learning advanced food preparation
* Gaining skills in culinary fundamentals in hot and cold food station setup, sauce-making, catering production, and salad/sandwich preparation
* Deep-frying, sautéing, roasting, boiling, and grilling, along with vegetable, grains, and starch cookery
* Following standardized recipes and food sanitation guidelines
* Students with more years of experience may be considered for a Cook I role

Culinary Assistant, Baking & Pastry

* Working in a high-volume bakery, banquet, catering/special events, or restaurant environment
* Learning the technical skills of plated dessert preparations as well as muffins, breads, cakes, petit fours, and wedding cakes
* Gaining knowledge of food cost control and product ordering
* Mixing, cutting, proofing, and baking
* Following standardized recipes and food sanitation guidelines
* Students with more years of experience may be considered for a Baking & Pastry I role

Basic Qualifications:What you bring to the table:

* Ability to adapt to production requirements
* Desire to learn the food and beverage industry
* Exposure to proper knife skills
* Focus on food
* Good judgment of food quality
* Guest service focus

Required Education
* Full-time or part-time student in a school of Culinary Arts seeking a certificate or degree, or enrolled in a Culinary/Baking and Pastry school and studying toward a Baking and Pâtisserie Science degree.
* Currently enrolled in at least one class and have completed at least one semester or
* Graduated in the past twenty-four (24) months.

* Currently enrolled students may need to meet additional school requirements, such as:
* G.P.A.
* Grade level
* Number of credit hours earned.

Additional Information:
* Programs occur year-around, and vary in length. The specific time frame of your program will be discussed at the time of the interview.
* A Disney Culinary Program participant’s wage will be:
* $15.40 per hour for Cook 2 / Baking & Pastry 2.
* $18.00 per hour for Cook I / Baking & Pastry I.
* $19.00 per hour for Cook I / Baking & Pastry I (signature restaurant).

* Participation in this program requires:
* Be at least 18 years of age at time of application
* Unrestricted work authorization within the Unites States
* Full availability to work Sunday – Saturday, including dates and nights, holidays and overtime
