Requirements:

 

  • Experience: Engineering/ Business Projects
  • Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited college, perusing a bachelor’s degree (BA / BS).
  • Languages: Bilingual, English and Spanish, is a plus.

Job Description:

The Continuous Improvement Intern will support continuous improvement projects by assisting with the development of the Operations’ Key Performance Indicators and designing and interpreting key reports using various databases. In addition, this role will collaborate with internal stakeholders to conduct needs and process improvement assessments using the Plan, Do, Check and Act (PDCA) method of internal departments. The Continuous Improvement Intern will assist with the promotion and education of Lean tools (e.g. 5S, Kaizens, PDCA, Waste Walks, Root Cause) to internal departments and create measurement (Controls) tools to track performance and sustain improvements. This role will also assist with the tracking of the cost of wastes in internal departments including and not limited to center lining, cost saving initiatives and cross-functional projects.                                                                                                                                                                                                         

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Prioritization: ability to meet deadlines consistently 
  • Communication; effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail; demonstrate passion for accuracy in both minor and significant workstreams
  • Process improvement; able to identify areas of opportunity to improve upon current processes and procedures 
  • Understanding of financial metrics and cost savings calculations
  • Takes initiative, assesses situations, and responds appropriately
  • Analytical, ability to analyze, validate, and manipulate data
  • Ability to apply understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

Job Details:

  • Work Hours: Part-Time hours of roughly 20-28 hours/week. Flexible scheduling to accommodate a school schedule, if needed. 
  • Work Attire: Use good judgement, keeping in mind the nature of the work, each employee’s own safety and the safety of others, and the need to interact with the public.
