Organization OverviewThe mission of Citizens of the World Los Angeles (CWC LA) is to provide a socio-economically, culturally, and racially diverse community of students in Los Angeles with an intellectually challenging, experiential learning environment that develops each student’s confidence, potential, and individual responsibility as citizens of the world.

We work with our network partners at Citizens of the World Charter Schools, linking the schools in Los Angeles to CWC schools in other parts of the country.Position OverviewThe Community Coordinator will support our schools with their operating systems and processes to enable excellent teaching and learning.

S/he will report to the Director of Student Outreach and Enrollment, in partnership with the Principal, and work closely with the Director of School Operations and Regional Data & Compliance Team to ensure that schools are fully enrolled and that parent voice is represented.Lead all planning and execution of annual student outreach efforts (student lottery)+ Partnership with the RSO to create and implement outreach strategies to develop diversity and maintain target enrollment at the school site; strategize with Community Coordinators at other CWC Los Angeles school sites+ Set enrollment targets with Principal each August and report progress towards targets monthly+ Create outreach plan (detail of events) each August and review with Principal+ Attend community events or visit organizations, as needed+ Coordinate all logistics for student lottery each spring+ Set date with Regional Support Office (RSO) and Principals+ Notify community of lottery and coordinate logistics of post-lottery communication (via SchoolMint)+ Coordinate day-of logistics, including ensuring staff attendance to support+ Coordinate and attend a minimum of two (2) enrollment fairs after the lottery and before end of school year+ Set dates with Principals+ Notify accepted households of dates+ Coordinate day-of logistics, including ensuring staff attendance to support and provide training for the acceptance and processing of enrollment packets+ Any other duties, as assignedLead the enrollment of students throughout the year+ Lead school tours to interested and newly enrolled families.+ Work with Data Coordinator to ensure fully-enrolled student body+ Make initial offers and manage waitlist via SchoolMint+ Print, collect, and enter lottery paper interest forms as needed+ Receive enrollment packets from parents and transition information to Data Coordinator for timely data entry into our Student Information System (Illuminate)+ Confirm online registration data and attachments are ready for export and import into Illuminate+ Create student cumulative records for new students+ Notify school Special Education leadership of new students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or 504 Plan and provide backup documentation+ Ensure the collection of immunization records as required by law prior to the first day of school for all new students+ Any other duties, as assignedServe as primary parent liaison for school site, including Homeless and Foster Youth liaison and all parent volunteer activities+ Attend and complete homeless and foster youth trainings hosted by the Los Angeles County Office of Education and/or Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority twice per year+ Provide annual training and resources to instructional and non-instructional staff, leadership, and administrators in the areas of homeless and foster youth+ Draft parent communications for review (by Principal and others) and send from the school site, excluding any sent directly from Principal+ Manage and maintain positive relationships with volunteers+ Ensure Homeless and Foster Youth households receive required questionnaire(s), notification(s), resources, and support+ Ensure interested volunteers have access to the Volunteer Handbook, collect all documentation required to start volunteering at the school site, and clear volunteers in coordination with the RSO+ Contribute to the development of content for outreach and enrollment and Illuminate training as requested by the RSO and attend training for professional development opportunities+ Any other duties, as assignedSupport overall program compliance+ Participate in check-ins with school site administration and/or the RSO+ Manage and maintain positive relationships with parents to provide information regarding the school’s mission and values, student programs, enrollment, and lottery processes+ Assist in the preparation of the school’s end-of-year annual audits and oversight, by collecting and reviewing documentation+ Assist in the preparation of the school’s site visits from local county offices of education+ Assist in the completion and submission of school-specific reports required by the California Department of Education (CDE) and districts+ Any other duties, as assignedData and reporting+ Manage SchoolMint and continuous system data clean up+ Calculate enrollment projections and open seats+ Assist with data entry for new students into Illuminate and SchoolMint and update current student demographics and enrollment history as needed+ Assist in the collection of school site data in preparation for the submission of various reports, including but not limited to: Consolidated Application, CALPADS, MiSiS, SARC, CRDC, and LCAP+ Any other duties, as assignedSystems Knowledge email communicationsGeneral Requirements+ Build relationships with school administration, CWC LA school operation teams, and other key stakeholders with a focus on collaboration+ Maintain outstanding attention to detail and willingness to get the job done+ Communicate and interact effectively with multiple stakeholders+ Exhibit strong project management skills+ Be adaptable and flexible+ Innovate and think creatively+ Exhibit strong data management skills+ Travel, as needed, for professional development opportunities and community events to fulfill outreach efforts+ Be fluent in writing and speaking Spanish and/or Korean (strongly preferred)+ Identify recurring challenges that need new or revised systems and work collaboratively with the RSO Data and Compliance team to analyze the problem(s)+ Ensure proper handling and securing of student data to ensure compliance with Family Educational Records and Privacy Act (FERPA)+ Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience+ Education experience preferred, but not required+ Understanding of computer software programs including office (Word, Excel) and willing to learn new software programs+ Knowledge of policies and procedures
