Our mission is to lead the way to a more just and humane society; building power for all service workers by developing member leadership and activism, winning strong contracts, organizing unorganized service workers, building political and community power, and engaging in direct action that demonstrates our strength and determination to win.Position Summary & Responsibilities: Working under the direction of the Communications Director, the Communicator will support a strong communications program for internal and external program.Examples of Duties:* Develop messaging strategy, communications plans and materials* Produce creative/visual material
– banners, props, and other visual elements for campaigns or events
• Produce digital and written content for the Union’s communications program, including website and social media channels, conducting audio and video interviews with workers* Assist with event staging, including press conferences and rallies* Recruit, train, and coordinate worker spokespeople* Closely coordinate with staff and multiple campaign teams, including organizing, political, and research staff.

Minimum Qualifications & Skills: Graduation from an accredited college or university in relevant field with at least five (3) years of related work experience that would provide for the following knowledge of, skills and abilities:* Proven commitment to social and economic justice and improving the lives of working people.

• Experience as a communicator developing an effective public, media and internal communications plan for a policy campaign or organizing campaign.

Preferably experience working on campaigns with a labor union or non-profit.

• Demonstrated written, verbal, visual/graphic, interviewing and analytical communications skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in team environment, including a high level of self-motivation
• Ability to drive work independently, manage assignments, stay organized and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent communication orally and in writing.

Bilingual
– English & Spanish, preferred* Experience developing effective social media and remote/digital organizing campaigns, preferred
• Advanced Layout and design skills, website design, use of Google G Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, preferred
• Experience taking photos; shooting and editing video preferredAdditional Requirements:* Ability to travel in California, ability to work extended and irregular hours, and work remotely, if needed
• Valid drivers’ license, use of a car for work, and specified automobile insurance coverage are mandatory
• Work is generally performed in an office setting with prolonged periods of sitting and work on computer Salary & Benefits:* Salary is competitive and negotiable based on experience.
