Commercial Associate-Middle Market (Los Angeles)

Job Description:

This role is for a Commercial Associate to join the Commercial Associate Development Program, a three year program designed to prepare individuals for a successful transition into a Relationship Manager role. The Commercial Associate participates as an integral member of the core Client Team, which provides banking services to commercial clients earning between $50MM-$2Bn annually.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develops, participates and/or presents client presentations (economic updates, market forecasts, industry updates, and industry valuations), pitch books and relationship reviews. 
  • Assists Relationship Managers through client contact strategy and pre-call planning. 
  • Participates in the credit approval process in order to gain exposure to Credit products – examples include deal screening, pricing analysis, and industry research.
  • Participates in treasury solutions packaging in order to gain exposure to Treasury products/services.
  • Coordinates with product partners, deal team members and clients throughout the course of a transaction.
  • Delivers financial, industry, and economic analyses and other activities to facilitate decision making with comprehensive and in-depth company and industry research.
  • Responsible for new business analytics to support the client teams, focusing on enhancing existing relationships, and identifying opportunities for up-tiering.
  • Assists Market Executive in market-wide initiatives such as prospecting (discovery, qualification, and research), cross-line-of-business referrals, and overall market engagement.
  • Position may be filled as a Commercial Associate I or Commercial Associate II, depending in experience and qualifications.
  • This position will be based in Downtown Los Angeles supporting the LA Metro Middle Market team

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree required. Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of previous relevant business experience
  • Credit skills preferred
  • Demonstrates initiative/self-motivation
  • Desire to move into Relationship Manager role upon completion of program
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills
  • Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
  • Possesses strong analytical and modeling skills
  • Possesses understanding of corporate financial statements is a must
  • Demonstrates strong critical thinking
  • Demonstrates the ability to independently make decisions
  • Licensing may be required (will support the employee through registration process if needed
