Business Systems Analyst

Role Summary:

The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing the business needs of the IT clients to identify business issues, data challenges and propose IT solutions. In relation to a proposed IT solution, a Business Analyst engages the clients to document and edit business requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations; develops and leads project testing efforts; works in conjunction with the Project Manager to ensure issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner; delivers informative, well-organized presentations; and understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully and effectively.

Key Skills:

  • Substantial knowledge of SharePoint and related Microsoft technologies including Office, and MS Exchange.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into simple deliverable solutions using out of the box functionality in SharePoint whenever possible
  • Ability to translate complex technical topics into easy to understand business language and strong business cases that take the business context into account and clearly position the overall value proposition
  • Exceptional communication, influencing and interpersonal skills including facilitating meetings, presentation skills, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate requirements sessions and cross-functional working sessions with end users, SME’s, stakeholders, etc. to elicit and clearly define requirements.
  • Ability to link business requirements with “Out of the Box” solutions using SharePoint lists, libraries, web/app parts, forms, filters etc.
  • Translate complicated business needs into technical requirements for development team when more advanced solutions are required.
  • Work with end users to gather and define requests for the migration of new and existing business processes the SharePoint environment.
  • Provide basic user and site owner SharePoint training sessions and on-demand custom tailored trainings where needed.
  • Analyze and map business and technical processes (current state/future state).
  • Produce high quality documentation and business process models, as a result of the discovery and evaluation process.
  • Build relationships between IT and the business partners by building trust and creating a credible partnership.
  • Monitor the original requirements throughout quality assurance testing and implementation to ensure that they are effectively delivered.
  • Drive the desired business value-added results by aligning all technology needs and the overall priorities. Adhere to established IT policies and procedures including the Project Lifecycle Methodology.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is required; majors in IT, Business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of work experience in IT Business Analysis; Business Process Mapping; Requirements Gathering; Project Management and Execution; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience designing and creating user interface wireframes and mockups.
  • Experience using smartsheets, Microsoft Teams, Atlassian Jira, Planbox (or equivalent) and Microsoft Visio.
