Communicates in a manner that is open, honest and responsive in all situations; to the extent authorized, provides information regarding the facility and surrounding area as requested by visitors.
Monitors entrances and exits; prevents unapproved or unlawful entry and controls entrances Patrols district buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry.
Conducts patrol inspections of doors, windows and gates to determine that they are secure.
Addresses unauthorized persons and questions them as necessary, routes or detains them or calls police for assistance.
Reports to principal any unusual conditions or malfunctioning of heating, plumbing or electrical systems.
Actively ensures that students are supervised while on school property.
Assists principals, as directed, to help maintain discipline in the event of student disturbances.
Makes written reports of security violations.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the principal.
Works collaboratively with School Resource Officers.
Qualifications Valid Driver’s License High school diploma or GED Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and write simple correspondence Must be able to stand for long periods of time and monitor a walk-through metal detector Ability to pass a drug screen, criminal background check and the SAFEGUARD Security Training as set forth by the SC Law Enforcement Division Safeguard SC training class.
