WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

CNB T&I (Technology & Innovation) is looking for an Agile Coach.

This Agile Coach is responsible for supporting the execution of CNB’s strategic Agile Transformation.

This position will interact and partner with senior leaders from Technology & Innovation (T&I) and Product organizations, while utilizing strong influencing, relationship and leadership skills.

This role will demonstrate extensive program and change management competencies for large scale transformative technology projects; from concept to system go-live.

The candidate must be a strong servant leader and will need to have strong and effective management skills, relationship building skills, be detailed oriented, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

The right candidate will serve as a change agent to identify ways to drive improvements within their area of focus, make recommendations for adoption around global processes by the broader T&I organization, challenge the status quo and champion a new culture of business and IT collaboration, innovation, agility, standardization, productivity, increased adoption and continuous improvement.

This role will also be counted on to be a thought leader who can incorporate the current Agile Transformation goals and business metrics of T&I; while keeping an eye on unique needs of CNB as a relationship bank with our clients.

You will be asked to improve the certainty of absorbing large-scale transformational change by building appropriate interaction models, and continuous feedback loops that engage everyone from end users to senior leaders.

Build and sustain strong and trusted relationships with business partners, both internal and external, in support of broader program goals and objectives.

Leverage established and proven practices by our parent company RBC, but have the ability to cater for CNB’s unique needs.

Manage the visibility & transparency around program level issues, risks around schedule, partner engagement, budget, etc., and leverage applicable ceremonies to escalate, as appropriate.

Understanding the importance of conducting root cause analysis of pervasive problems and facilitating the process to arrive at the correct solution.

Act as the mediator/facilitator to manage business partner expectations and negotiate effective solutions to complex problems in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Technology and Innovation Division
As a member of City National’s Technology & Innovation group, you will drive, develop, and maintain solutions for clients and colleagues.

This is an exciting time of technology advancement and innovation across the bank, particularly within our technology teams.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Strong executive presence and ability to work effectively with all levels, including EVP level leaders, within Technology & Product
  • Ensure transparency by publishing agile transformation objectives, progress and goals to SLT (including CIO)
  • Expertise in agile coaching (SAFe preferred) and influencing skills in a matrixed organization.

    Help change the mindsets and evangelize the new way of working.

  • Lead Agile training, workshops, and other forums within area of focus
  • Manage a team of RTE/Portfolio Manager/Scrum Masters including FTE and contractors as needed
  • Track Progress/Report: Appropriate Agile Metrics (i.e.

    Capacity, Burndown, Velocity charts, etc.) to understand progress, working with RTEs and SMs

  • Partner with PMO to facilitate cross collaboration on the transformation
  • Manage Agile transformation program risks for dedicated area of focus
  • Work with Portfolio Manager, Product Managers, POs and other Business Stakeholders to ensure alignment with strategic and business objectives
  • Support/Coach PI Planning readiness working with RTE and scrum teams on backlog maturity and Pre/Post-PI Planning meetings when applicable
  • Hands-on navigation of the application life cycle management tools (i.e., JIRA, Kendis) to leverage data for backlog management and reporting (metrics, KPIs)

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience in End-to-end Technology Delivery, Product management, Delivering on Tech Strategy
  • Minimum of 4+ years of agile leadership, coaching, RTE

Skills and Knowledge

  • Expert in Agile environment using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Scrum, XP, Kanban, or other scaled Agile model
  • Experience leading distributed/virtual teams
  • SPC, RTE or SAFe Agilist Certification
  • Growth mindset, learning mindset, strategic thinking
  • Strong communication and organizational change management experience
