The Aerospace Space-Based InfraRed Systems and Next Generation GEO Department is looking for a talented, dedicated, and passionate engineering leader to partner with the Space Force System Command to ensure mission success for the development, acquisition and deployment of the Next generation Overhead Persistent Infrared space assets that defend against, defeat, and deter aggressive adversary behavior in space.
As SBIRS Next Gen Block 0 GEO (NGG) space vehicle cyber engineering lead, your primary responsibility will be leadingsupportingevaluating the design and test of the spacecraft, mission and auxiliary payloads to meet their respective cyber security requirements.
You will help protect the Nation by supporting the development of these exciting, important, high technology next generation missile warning systems.
What You’ll Be Doing You will partner with the Government to ensure Mission Success of the Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) to develop, acquire and deploy space assets that defend against, defeat, and deter aggressive adversary behavior in space.
Your primary responsibilities will be to provide the Government with systems security engineering and cybersecurity expertise as a member of the Aerospace OPIR NGG SV Department of the Space Development Division.
You will be a critical resource in the discovery and removal of space cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
Provide spacecraft and mission payloads cybersecurity expertise in support of critical decision points and provide assessments of security activities and posture Contribute in Enterprise Program Protection, Supply Chain Risk Management technical assessments and coordination with SSC and Government stakeholders Perform risk management activities to ensure cybersecurity risks are evaluated and mitigations applied in accordance with security directives Review of cybersecurity test procedures for requirements satisfaction, including participation in Test Readiness Review activities and witnessing of test events Lead cryptographic equipment development reviews and technical assessment of requirements satisfaction, design suitability to system operations, production readiness, key management planning suitability, and sustainment impacts Participate in Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) planning and implementation The locations for this position can be at customer sites at in these cities El Segundo, CA, Waterton CO, or Sunnyvale, CA only.
This position is available as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer.
What You Need to be Successful Project Engineer Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering field 8 or more years of related engineering, scientific, or space system program experience At least 5 years of current cybersecuritycyber operations experience Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, including Risk Management Framework (RMF) Experience working cross-functionally within teams, handling multiple tasks, and the ability to work closely with government customers, contractors, and other FFRDCs A current TSSCI clearance, which is issued by the US Government.
US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance Willing to travel domestically What You Need to be Successful Senior Project Engineer Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in relevant science or engineering 12 or more years of relevant experience At least 5 years of current cybersecuritycyber operations experience Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification or equivalent cyber certification A current TSSCI clearance, which is issued by the US Government.
