*Position Description:*
Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Office of Student Services, the Academic Advisor will provide Academic Support, Professional Development and Academic advising to students in two of UCLA’s School of Education graduate programs – the M.Ed in Student Affairs and M.Ed in Transformative Coaching and Leadership. The Academic Advisor is responsible for ensuring student success from the time they are admitted into the program until graduation. Responsibilities include counseling and advising students in their individual programs, providing academic pathways for success through traditional and not traditional models, working in concert with instructors of their Directed Field Experience courses (498A- B-C) to advise on professional development opportunities, supporting and securing field placements, coordinating weekly meetings and meeting with students weekly to provide academic and professional support; providing guidance on courses and correcting when students are not on track to graduate; and developing and implementing programs to enhance student academic success. The Academic Advisor will also provide ongoing counseling and advising to graduate students regarding professional development opportunities and options for fulfilling the field experience requirement for their program, , maintain student files as it relates to field experiences and professional development opportunities, track and document field experiences, and follow up with students on a consistent basis to ensure that program field placement and attendance are being met.
