Responsibilities may include assistance and support in the following:Resolution of disputes with healthcare providers and membersNegotiation of contracts with healthcare providers, hospital systems, third-party administrators, network administrators, and Medicare Advantage partnersCounsel on healthcare legal issues involving provider contracts, provider relations, balance billing, care management, fraud and abuse in healthcare billing, No Surprises Act (CAA of 2021), Mental Health Parity, HIPAA, ERISA and the ACARepresentation on healthcare billing matters in state courts and independent dispute resolution proceedingsResolution of Medicare secondary payer disputesReview of relevant communications to healthcare providers for legal issues and accuracyOther projects and responsibilities as assigned, including legal research and professional development Qualifications:Juris Doctorate Degree; admitted to practice inNew York State required, New Jersey a plusMinimum of one (1) year job related experience requiredAbility to respond timely to court deadlines, perform oral arguments at motion hearings, draft briefs for motion practice, draft position statements for dispute resolution conferencesExcellent writing and legal reasoning skills are essentialAbility to work well as part of a team and interact with non-legal operational staffAbility to travel to courts in various counties, occasionally during the eveningMust meet performance standards including attendance and punctualityMust be able to work with and communicate effectively with staff, trustees, and other professionalsKnowledge of relevant healthcare laws and ERISA a plus
