Overview Under general medical supervision, and within regulatory scope of practice, assists in the provision of direct patient care by arranging patients for radiological examinations. Produces radiographs (x-rays) to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems. Prevents patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. In addition, performs routine medical assisting procedures such as administering intramuscular, subcutaneous or intra-dermal injections and performing skin tests, venipunctures and skin punctures for blood specimens. As a q2Q2level II position also provides x-ray-related technical support and professional expertise to the units of purchasing and clinical operations
Responsibilities Performs all radiology exams as required within the scope of certification for which he/she is capable and qualified to perform.
Maintains all x-ray equipment in working order. Reports non-functioning and/or need for equipment to the Nursing Supervisor/Clinic Administrator.
Responsible for assisting with patient care as required to facilitate patient flow.
Produces high quality films that are acceptable to physician on duty, as well as Radiologist.
Documents all procedures accurately, legibly and completes all areas of patient record, which includes collecting complete billing information and accurately completing the encounter form.
Maintains x-ray files/logs and assists with filing as needed.
Prepares patient for examination by setting up equipment and assisting during exams as needed by the provider.
Assists medical providers in the back office as needed in: room and discharge orders for patients; administering vaccine and medications allowed under the Medical Assistant scope of practice and supervised by the Nurse Supervisor or medical provider.
Assists with regulatory audits by government agencies or health plans as needed.
Assists in such duties as restocking rooms/shelves/trays, checking and ordering supplies, and ensuring that all areas, exam rooms are clean and orderly.
Perform competency assessments of radiology staff reporting results to Clinic Administrator or Supervisors as appropriate.
Provide technical professional support to the process of radiological acquisitions and site development, including servicing of units and equipment.
Acts as a preceptor for new employees and/or students and serve as technical liaison to clinically based radiological staff as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Graduation from an accredited radiology program required.
Limited Permit in X-ray Technology required.
Medical Assistant certificate required.
CPR/First Aid certificate required.
A minimum of two years experience required. Three years experience preferred.
Bilingual: English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese depending on location preferred.
