Scientific Lab Technician/Assistant

A PCR Operator position in South San Francisco is available through Adecco Medical & Science.

Client is focused on shifting health care from a reactive, undifferentiated approach to a proactive, targeted approach by transforming the detection, prevention, management, and our basic understanding of disease.

Role Description: Client’s CLIA laboratory is seeking PCR operators to contribute to the high-throughput processing of clinical samples for SARS-CoV-2 testing.

As a member of the Clinical Lab team, you will be responsible for processing biological samples in an expedient and organized manner while maintaining a documented sample chain of custody.

You will be responsible for the handling of sensitive patient information (e.g.

PHI/PII) with the utmost accuracy and confidentiality.

Evening and weekend work is required.

Responsibilities: Process biological samples in accordance with established protocols Accurately transcribe and review all sample data in the laboratory information management system Support and help maintain sample inventory across multiple temperature-controlled units Recognize, flag, and document sample and data issues, and escalate to the appropriate personnel Collaborate with the Clinical Team on sample management tracking and issue resolution Handle PHI/PII with accuracy and confidentiality General laboratory upkeep, including supporting restocking as needed, and workspace cleanliness Adhere to proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements at all times May be asked to accept STAT packages Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently Ability to execute protocols in a consistent and documented manner Excellent attention to detail Demonstrated experience handling PHI/PII with accuracy and confidentiality Ability to work evenings and weekends Preferred qualifications: Previous unscreened biosample handling and processing experience in a clinical or research laboratory Active California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in Microbiology, Virology or Clinical Molecular Genetics Experience with RT-qPCR Experience with automated liquid handling systems Data entry experience in a laboratory information management system Enthusiasm, independence, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced, team environment Physical & Lifting Requirements: Lifting requirements: must be able to lift 20 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds consistently Physical requirements: stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, and repetitive motions Hazards: Hazards and atmospheric conditions: OSHA category 1
