Maintenance – Painter – Full Time, Days (LACH)

The Painter applies coats of paint, varnish, enamels or lacquer to decorate and protect interior and exterior surface, trimmings and fixtures of the hospital.
Job Responsibilities/Duties
- Fills cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other fillers and then scrapes, sandpapers, primes area prior to painting. Cleans walls to ensure proper adherence. Reports any issues to appropriate plant operations contact.
- Tapes off areas as needed, follows proper procedures to remove fixtures, and covers surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.
- Maintains a safe and clean work area while painting. Cleans all equipment used during project appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Applies paint, varnish, stains, enamels or lacquer to decorate and protect interior and exteriors surfaces, trimmings and fixtures of the hospital. Applies second coats and touch ups as required.
- Takes conscious ownership for work and takes a proactive, deliberate, and thoughtful approach regarding work activities. Demonstrates appropriate use of independent judgement and decision making. Demonstrates excellent customer service at all times. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with hospital/corporate policies and HIPAA privacy regulations.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: None.
Minimum Experience: One (1) year previous experience as a painter required. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Bilingual skills preferred. Previous painting experience in a hospital environment preferred.
Req. Certification/Licensure: Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only) required.
