Veterinary Technician ( Emergency & Critical Care )

Requirements: Credentialed Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant with at least 3 years of experience in veterinary medicine

Reports to: DVM, Shift Lead, Department Managers, Owners

Metropolitan Animal Specialty Hospital is a 24-Hour specialty and emergency animal hospital located in the heart of Hollywood, California. We are looking for friendly, qualified veterinary technicians to join our emergency and critical care team. Our services include emergency and critical care, internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, oncology, nutrition, dermatology, cardiology, neurology and ophthalmology. MASH is a newly constructed hospital housing new surgery suites, appointment rooms, treatment areas, and state-of-the-art equipment. MASH is eager to provide the Hollywood and surrounding Los Angeles community with the highest quality specialty and emergency veterinary medicine.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years as a credentialed veterinary technician. Veterinary Assistants will also be considered. VTS or VTS eligible technicians are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates should be able to work independently and under busy schedules. You should also be comfortable discussing medications, and treatments with clients as well as following up with their inquiries. Candidates should be professional, friendly, courteous, able to multi-task as well as have basic computer skills, organizational skills, and excellent communication skills.   • IV Catheter placement
  • Venipuncture
  • Urinary catheter placement
  • Proficient in triage
  • IV/IM injections
  • Patient restraint
  • Medically able to take radiographs
  • Physically able and WILLING TO lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to perform medical math (basic algebra)
  • Monitoring anesthesia
  • Willing to possibly work overtime
  • Cleaning the department

  • Know normal vital signs for canines and felines

Currently, clients are not allowed into our facility and all staff must wear masks. Temperature checks occur daily. and staff must step into Clorox foot baths upon entering the facility from the outside. We also have face shields for staff upon request.
