Fleet Maintenance Mechanic

Job Description and QualificationsAir Products and Chemicals, Inc.

(NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for an experienced Fleet Maintenance Mechanic at its Council Bluffs, IA facilityAs a Vehicle Technician, the primary responsibilities will be to: Perform routine preventative-type maintenance on the Company’s fleet of Co2 trailers including Co2 loading and unloading equipment and support maintenance on Co2 loading equipment in our Council Bluffs, IA and Adams, NE locations.

The locations are separate however, the loading equipment at each facility are identical as are our fleet trailers the same type of equipment.The preventative-type maintenance will include, but will not be limited to, brake service, seal replacements, suspension repairs, tanker loading and unloading equipment repairs.Troubleshoot, diagnose & repair pump and associated loading and unloading equipment, electrical and electronic systems including lighting, electronic logging equipment and electronic loading equipment components.Document/record work performed electronically on computer-based maintenance systemManage all maintenance activities involving running a large fleet of Co2 trailers.Perform road repairs when necessaryPerform electrical/electronic repairs on Co2 trailersGas and electrical welding experience preferred Additional job responsibilities (with on-the-job training provided) will include: Perform trailer maintenance to include repair/replacing valves, pumps, etc.Calibrate pump discharge metersLoad trailersTroubleshoot and repair pumps and associated equipment Qualifications: High School diploma/equivalentValid Class A CDL preferred3-5 years trailer maintenance and repair experience Strong mechanical background, with some computer knowledge, experience/skills.Energetic, highly motivated and well organized, self-starter with strong commitment to safetyStrong team player with ability to work well with fellow drivers/operations personnelSolid work historyAbility to drive tractor trailer for yard and shop/yard shuttling experienceWelding knowledge and experienceElectrical troubleshooting skills on 12 volt DC circuitsDiesel engine troubleshooting and repair experience a plusWillingness to be on-call after hours and on weekends when not workingExperience with tankers and CO2 a plusAt Air Products, we work in an environment where diversity is essential, inclusion in our culture, and each person knows they belong and matter.
